Rooibos fights off cancer
Most people know that Rooibos is one of the more healthier drinks available and today I found a great article on Rooibos’ ability to fight cancer.
By 2010 scientist agree that Cancer will be the number one cause of deaths in the world, so its worth a quick read of the below article.
Basically the findings are from a few different groups of top scientists that have looked at the natural properties found in Rooibos such as flavonoid antioxidants, and then experimented with the effects they have on cancerous cells.
The results are pretty incredible and defiantly a good enough excuse to give Rooibos a try if you haven’t yet.

1. Rooibos reduces cancer-associated changes in cells by protecting them against DNA damage or mutagenesis. Rooibos contains quercetin, luteolin and orientin — potent anti-oxidants that scavenge free radicals that damage the DNA of the cells. Rooibos’ anti-oxidants bind to the free radicals and inactivate them before they can cause damage.
2. Rooibos may prevent a cell with damaged DNA from becoming a cancerous cell.
3. Rooibos may prevent cancerous cells from multiplying into masses and creating cancerous tumours.
4. Rooibos increases the level of natural anti-oxidants in the liver, which means that the liver’s anti-oxidant status is improved.
5. Rooibos also helps the liver to get rid of compounds that can cause cancer.
